THE PUBLIC RECORDS DESK

HOW WE EARN TRUST

Evidence first.
People always.

Civic information only helps when people can see where it came from and understand its limits.

01

Every record has a source

We link to the original public institution, document, and date wherever available.

↗
02

Unknown stays unknown

Missing public data is labelled as missing. We never fill gaps with guesses.

↗
03

No party endorsements

We do not rank parties, candidates, or officials. The same source rules apply to everyone.

↗
04

Corrections are welcome

A public-interest project should make it easy to flag an outdated link or factual error.

↗

YOUR RIGHT TO ASK

Turn a question
into a clear request.

Use this private, in-browser helper to draft a focused request for public information. Review it, then submit it through the official process.

Read the Commission’s guidance

A focused request starts with…

  • A record: name the document or information you need.
  • A scope: include the relevant place, service, or project.
  • A period: give dates where they help narrow the request.

Please provide copies of [record name] relating to [service or project] in [area], for [date range].

Replace the brackets with your own details. This is a writing example, not an official form.

BEFORE YOU GO

A few things, made clear.

Know what this project offers before taking your next step.

Is this an official government website?

No. NV. Civic Lens LK is an independent project by NV SHARP SOLUTIONS, created by Navod Ravindu Jayaweera. It is not affiliated with the Government of Sri Lanka, Parliament, or a political party.

Does this site submit an RTI request for me?

No. The helper prepares text in your browser. Review the draft and follow the RTI Commission’s official guidance to submit it through the appropriate process.

What happens to what I type?

This site does not send or persist your entries. They remain in the page while you work. Clear removes them from this page; it does not erase text you copied or files you downloaded.

Can a source card confirm a project’s status?

No. These cards are starting points for official records. Read the original material and its scope. Missing information should remain unknown, rather than being treated as evidence of wrongdoing.

NV.

A clearer view of public information is a starting point for stronger civic participation.
